The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country has risen to 175, after 15 new cases were confirmed last evening.

The 15 new cases include 12 truck drivers who entered the country using the Elegu, Busia and Malaba points of entry.

Other three cases are contacts of already confirmed cases.

According to the health ministry, all contacts were under quarantine saying they did not come into contact with communities.

A total of 2,106 samples were tested from different points of entry.

Another 23 drivers were also sent back to their countries of origin after testing positive for COVID-19.

The health minister, Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng in an interview revealed that the decision to take back the driver s was made because Uganda could not effectively look after all of them.

Over 140 drivers have been repatriated after testing positive, since the decision was made.
