Kagadi local gov’t starts work to renovate Rwabituju Bridge

Kagadi district Local Government yesterday started work to rehabilitate and renovate dilapidated Rwabituju Bridge.

Rabituju Bridge connects Galiboleka and Ruteete Sub counties to Mpeefu ya Sande Town council along Kiryane-Ruteete-Buraza-Kisuura road in Kagadi district.

The bridge was dismantled about four months ago by heavy floods paralyzing transport, movement and trade.

The district engineer Robert Bukenya who last evening over saw works to rehabilitate the Bridge, says rock fill is done and they are to hire a wheel loader to ensure work is complete by Thursday this week.

However Engneer Bukenya asked locals to be calm and be patient as he assured them quick progress.

He says the whole district was last year hit by breakdown of many bridges due to heavy down pour but they are trying to fix one by one priority going to major ones.

In an interview with our reporter while at the site, victims said they have incurred huge losses in transport and business.

They are however optimistic that efforts enforced by the district could rescue them.

These have thanked the district chairman Stephen Byaruhanga Mfashingabo for listening to their cries.
