A 62-year-old man in Kween district has been killed in a land conflict.
Augustine Yeko, a resident of Lwanda village, Cheberen parish, Benet Sub County, in Kween District was on Saturday found dead near a river.
Yeko was supposed to appear for a land mediation meeting on Saturday between him and children of the late Mwanga Chemutai.
Denis Balwanilewa, the Kween Resident District Commissioner said that police is investigating circumstances under which Yeko died.
He said angry residents have burnt homes belonging to late Mwanga but Police has now calmed the situation.
Augustine Chemayek, the LCI Chairperson of Lwanda village says that the deceased had reported a case of threatening violence by the deceased’s wife Roselyn Mwanga and her sons over ownership of one acre of land.
Fred Chelangat Kamamai, the area councillor of Cheberen parish said that the deceased and the other family haven’t been on good terms following failure to settle the dispute amicably on time.
