Kibaale Young Farmers’ Cooperative Savings and Credit Ltd, an initiative that will engage the youth in value addition, increased Maize quality production, access to modern methods of farming and better markets for extended incomes, has been launched by the Minister of Finance Matia Kasaija, at Bujuni Catholic Parish Hall in Kibaale district today.
The Cooperative that has a membership enrolment of 35 youth from different areas of Kibaale also attracted over a hundred people at the launch.
Matia Kasaija who is also the Buyanja Constituency MP says the youth should make calculative steps and also start up profitable ventures, make project budgets with the help from Agriculture extension officers to guard against flops.
He donated to the corporative Sh1 Million Cheque to support their works.
Before attending the youth cooperative function, he first visited the Silc groups of Rwamagando Parish in Kabasekende Sub County where he donated Sh500, 000 cash.
Sedrack Isingoma, the Kibaale district Senior Commercial Officer, however advices the youths to work together so that they can elevate themselves and realize the Cooperative sustainability.
Godfrey Kibuuka, the Cooperative Chairperson says it will help young farmers to start up and those existing to elevate their productivities.
The Cooperative members are optimistic that they will reap big from the initiative given the available support from Minister Matia Kasaija whom they say is a determined selfless leader.
