Following the President Museveni order to close all borders, in Kagadi District it has caused the hike of salt prices to shot up in several retail and wholesale shops.

In many shops visited by Journalists in Kagadi Town Council in Kagadi District, the price of Habari table salt imported from Kenya increased from Shs800 to Shs2, 000.

Speaking to KKCR FM Some of the wholesalers said that a week ago, a carton of Habari salt was at Shs24, 000 but it has quickly shot to 75,000 and 80,000 respectively since yesterday. They further suspect that the cause of the increase price on salt might be due to embargo put on Kenya border where Habari table salt is imported from.

According to some business personnel’s who had intervened in kagadi town to do business shopping from villages say that they have abandoned shopping salt due its increased price which no longer fit in their budgets.
