COVID-19: 33 Cases Confirmed in Uganda

The Health Ministry has confirmed three more COVID19 cases bringing to 33, the number of corona virus patients in the country.

“Out of 203 samples that were tested today (Sunday), 3 were confirmed positive for COVID-19. This brings the total number of cases in Uganda to 33,” said the Health Minister, Dr. Ruth Aceng on Sunday evening.

She urged Ugandans to adhere to the prevention guidelines issued by the Ministry to interrupt the spread of the virus.

Dr. Henry Mwebesa, the Director General Health Services in the Health Ministry, says all confirmed cases are stable and receiving treatment at four health facilities.

“All confirmed cases are stable at Mulago National Referral Hospital, Entebbe Regional Referral Hospital, Adjumani General Hospital and Hooks hospital,” he said. 

Adding that, “Contrary to various social media posts, Uganda has not registered a COVID-19 death.” There is a reported increase of COVID-19 cases worldwide.  

Over 685,000 people have been infected with COVID with over 2,000 cases coming from Africa. Within the East African bloc, 149 cases have been confirmed, majority of which are from Rwanda with 60 cases. Tanzania has the least number with 14 cases.
