Mukono district has received 500 mattresses to set up an isolation centre, in the wake of a COVID-19 crisis. The district has already identified 190 people who could have been in contact with confirmed cases of the disease.
Currently, the district is preparing Limkokwing university study centre, the former Namataba vocational Institute to serve as an isolation facility. The area Resident District Commissioner Fred Bamwine says due to its proximity to the capital, Kampala, Mukono district needs to be equally prepared for any eventualities.
In support of the preparation appeal, Royikem Industries Limited donated 500 mattresses, through the district task force. Bamwiine notes that the donation shall be declared before the national taskforce to also benefit other districts that are struggling to secure mattresses.
The Board Chairperson of Royikem Industries Limited Ronald Nyanzi says suspects needs proper treatment that involves proper sleeping while at isolation facilities.
The company has also donated 3,000 litres of fuel to transport expectant mothers during emergencies. Bamwiine notes that on a daily basis, the district vehicles transport about 30 mothers to different health facilities.
