COVID-19 CRISIS: Minister Tumwebaze blocked from entering Equity bank for having no face mask

Officials from Equity Bank Uganda Limited, threw out the Minister for Gender, Labour and Social Development, Frank Tumwebaze after he showed up at the bank premises without wearing a mask.

The revelation was made by Tumwebaze on his Twitter handle noting, “Thanks to my bank Equity for being tough with enforcing COVID-19 Uganda prevention protocols. This morning I made a mistake for which I plead guilty to and most sincerely apologize. I forgot my mask home and was bounced at the bank. I took off to pick one. Learnt my lesson!”

Tumwebaze’s apology won him applause from his over 111,000 followers who commended the Minister for the exemplary leadership and humility, prompting some of his followers to ask him pass on the same lessons to disgraced Minister Kibuule who was caught on camera in 2019 assaulting a female security guard who had demanded to go through security check before accessing the bank.

The Government passed a directive that will require all people to wear masks or face fine of Shs20,000 or jail term of six months or both.
