Buyaga East MP Eric Musana rejects results of NRM primary election

Kagadi-The incumbent Member of Parliament for Buyaga East constituency, Eric Musana has rejected the results of NRM primaries which were declared on Tuesday in favour of the former third prime minister of Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom, Stephen Twesige Rulekere.

The results were declared by the chairperson of NRM Electoral commission, Dr.Tanga Odoi at the NRM Party headquarters in Kyadondo.

 The results were delayed after Eric Musana, the Buyaga East Incumbent MP petitioned the Kagadi district NRM electoral commission over alleged irregularities.

On   4th September 2020, no winner was announced after a re-voting was announced for Pacwa trading centre in Pacwa sub-county, where Musana and Twesige failed to agree over alleged inflating of results on the declaration forms.

Twesige polled 28,686(42%) votes against Musana’s 27,162 (40%) votes, while Amara Peter managed to get 10,966 votes.

Birungi Robert got 37votes, Kisembo Emmanuel Diini got 10, Tukamushaba Kerian got 367, Alinaitwe Bright secured 385 votes, and Kakooza Patrick attained 1,079 votes.

However, Musana has rejected the results saying he was cheated.

He said that according to his tally of the declaration forms, he garnered 28,663 against his closest rival Stephen Twesige, who got 25,014 votes.

Musana is now opting for legal actions and running as an independent.

“My next course of action will be decided by the people based on consultations, ”Musana told our reporter on Friday morning.
