Homes, Property Destroyed in Kagadi Revenge Attack

Police in Kagadi is hunting for suspects who raided the homes of murder suspects demolished their homes and property worth millions in a suspected revenge attack.

It all started when, Deo Tumusiime, John Alituha and Patrick Mukonyezi, all residents of Namugongo C village in Buhumuliro Sub County allegedly beat the LC1 Chairperson Geoffrey Byamukama to death during a bar brawl on 17th February this year. 

The suspects were immediately arrested and detained at Kagadi central police station pending further investigations.  

In retaliation, last Friday the relatives of the deceased stormed the homes of suspects and destroyed three houses and unspecified household property including crops and domestic animals.

Nsenga Amos the LC1 chairperson of Namugongo A village has called for calm from the deceased’s family and relatives as police are handling the matter. 


Speaking during a security meeting on Monday afternoon, Moses Muzima Kiconco, the Kagadi District Police Commander, called for calm saying that the three murder suspects have been remanded by court.  He says the hunt for the prime suspect in the destruction of property is ongoing.

Nobody has been arrested in connection to the attack.


Lillian Ruteraho, the Kagadi resident district commissioner condemned the mob justice by the deceased persons’ families and relatives, saying it was uncalled for. 

She says the culprits will be also arrested to answer charges of arson and malicious damage.
