Dr. Mwalimu Musheshe, along with the URDT family, has joined the nation in mourning the passing of Ignatius Besisira, a former Member of Parliament for Greater Buyaga County.
Dr. Musheshe, who also serves as the Vice Chancellor for African Rural University, paid tribute to the late Besisira during an interview yesterday morning 14th January 2025 with KKCR FM at his office.
Musheshe described the late Besisira as a knowledgeable, honest, patriotic, and intelligent politician, whose legacy will be felt far beyond his home village in Pachwa, Greater Buyaga, and Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom, extending throughout Uganda.
Dr. Musheshe highlighted Besisira’s significant contributions to rural transformation in Buyaga East and Kagadi District.
He cited his lobbying for key infrastructural developments such as the Kigumba-Kabwoya-Kagadi-Kyenjojo tarmac road, the Mubende-Kakumiro-Kibaale-Kagadi tarmac road, as well as the electrification of rural areas and the establishment of schools in Buyaga East.
He further acknowledged Besisira’s instrumental role in the creation of both Buyaga East and Buyaga West Counties and the establishment of Kagadi District, among other achievements.
Dr. Musheshe also recognized Besisira as one of the few politicians who lived a purposeful life, noting that even after losing his political seat, he remained actively involved in shaping community initiatives.
Unlike other politicians who fade into the background after losing elections, Besisira continued to influence positive change, setting a strong example for current and future leaders to follow.
The URDT family and Dr. Musheshe also expressed their gratitude to President Museveni for granting the late Besisira an official burial, a fitting tribute to his significant contributions to Uganda.
Late Ignatius Besisira will be buried this Friday 17th January 2025 this week at Igayaza cell, Pachwa town council, Kagadi district.
