Woman Remanded for Attempted Murder and Theft in Kagadi

A 36-year-old woman was yesterday 15th January 2025 remanded to Mambugu Government Prison on charges of attempted murder and theft.

The Kagadi Grade One Magistrate Court, presided over by His Worship Edward Kayukyi, heard that on November 2, 2024, Namugerwa Joan, commonly known as Gift, and Kato Moses, both residents of Nankurabye Cell, Kagadi Town Council, Kagadi District, allegedly attempted to kill Alinaitwe Pius while also stealing 500,000 shillings in cash.

Namugerwa Joan denied the charges, and as a result, she was remanded to Mambugu Government Prison until her next hearing on January 30, 2025.

Two Women Arrested for Stealing Baby in Hoima

Two women, Julian Kusemererwa, 21, and Zam Kyakua, 66, have been arrested for allegedly stealing a newborn baby boy from Kigorobya Health Centre IV in Hoima.

The suspects were apprehended on Tuesday after the theft occurred on Sunday.

According to the mother, Florence Nyangoma, a woman posing as a nurse took her newborn for immunization but failed to return the child.

After searching the health facility without success, Nyangoma alerted the police, who began an investigation.

The stolen baby was later found in Kyakua’s home, and medical tests confirmed the child was in good health.

The baby has since been reunited with the mother. Police have noted that Kusemererwa and Kyakua worked together to steal the child.
