Police in Kakumiro are holding an unspecified number of their own officers following the suspected murder of Ronald Kitone who has been the Kakumiro district Chairperson. The gruesome incident occurred last week.
SP Julius Allan Hakiiza, the Albertine south region police spokesperson exposed that the incident happened on June 1st 2026 where the deceased is alleged to have planned for his father’s death but the father reported the matter to police who later came to arrest the deceased.
Hakiza says the officers who went to arrest the deceased dropped a teargas canister in the room where the deceased was which the public in Kikwaya now say it led to his death.
He expressed that currently the police officers who went to arrest the deceased are arrested and behind the bars as they wait for the postmortem report from the hospital to show if it’s the teargas that killed him or he took poison.
Hakiza says after the community cry from Kakumiro saying that its police that killed the deceased, they had to bring them to Hoima CPS and its where they are being kept.
