Police in Kakumiro District have arrested two suspects in connection with the murder of 25-year-old Juliet Mbabazi, whose body was discovered in a bush after she reportedly went missing on Sunday night.
The arrests were confirmed by the Kakumiro District Police Commander, SP David Otabong, who said investigations into the murder are progressing.
Mbabazi, a resident of Kakumiro Town East and daughter of Gideon Lubega, was found dead on Monday morning after residents organized a search following her disappearance from the bar where she worked.
According to SP Otabong, preliminary investigations suggest that the murder was premeditated. He urged members of the public to be cautious about the people they associate with as police continue to establish the motive behind the killing.
Police have withheld the identities of the two suspects to avoid jeopardizing ongoing investigations. However, SP Otabong said the suspects are expected to provide crucial information that will help detectives track down other individuals believed to have participated in the crime.
The District Police Commander also appealed to members of the public to cooperate with security agencies by volunteering any information that could assist in the investigation.
Police say investigations are ongoing and have pledged to ensure that all those responsible for Mbabazi’s murder are identified and brought before the courts of law.
