The Ministry of Health has hailed People Power pressure group for supporting a good cause of mobilizing food for vulnerable Ugandans in the course of fighting the COVID-19 pandemic.
People Power enthusiasts, led by Flavia Kalule Nabagabe, the Women’s league leader and Lina Zedriga, the Deputy Principle on Wednesday afternoon handed over 50 bags of Maize floor, 30 cartons of salt and 30 boxes of soap to support a plan to aid the vulnerable poor.
The aid was recieved by Health Minister Jane Ruth Aceng, Minister for Primary Healthcare Joy Moriku Kaducu and Minister of health for General duties Robinah Nabbanja on behalf of the COVID-19 Task force.
Kalule called on the government to give the food to the women in rural areas and appreciated the Ministry of Health for their tireless effort to save Ugandans, from the deadly virus which has claimed lives of thousands of people across the world.
At the same event, Zedriga said that this is a time for all Ugandans to come together for a common cause.
Health Minsiter Jane Ruth Aceng, on her part hailed the People power for coming up to support Ugandans. She said COVID-19 can only be won through concerted effort regardless of political, religious, and cultural affiliation.
Aceng, who was receiving the contributions on behalf of the National Task Force said that the food will be distributed to the women in the rural area as called for by the People power women.
