Uganda Police has on Monday, May 25, issued guidelines for private vehicles as they return on the road.
Private vehicle drivers are expected to be back on the road on Tuesday, May 26, according to President Museveni’s directive in his 14th address.
According to police, only 3 occupants including the driver are allowed in a car in ordered to maintain social distancing.
“It’s essential for each occupant to have a face mask,” reads an excerpt.
Cross border movement remains suspended.
The drivers also been advised to keep sanitizers inside their vehicles.
“And to have them regularly cleaned or washed to maintain high hygienic standards,”
Use of air conditioning inside the cars has been discouraged by police.
In addition curfew has been maintained.
“Timing of movement remains non curfew hours,” police noted.
Rule breakers will be fined, vehicles impounded or arrested and charged to court according to a police statement.
