Victims of Kagadi Attack Laid to Rest

People who were attacked and hacked to death in Kagadi district have been laid to rest.

On Tuesday, nine people from the same family were hacked to death by members of the cult “God Holy Spirit son Man Man”, when they raided Muzizi cell, Kyaterekera town council in Kagadi district at around 9 p.m.    

The cult members who are relatives of the deceased persons reportedly accused the residents of refusing to join the new cult. 

Police have since identified the victims of the attack as Boniface Nyirambe, 41, Norah Kabuwere, 64, Anitah Kabugho, 44, Praise Muhindo, 7, Masika Kabagenyi, 3, Ferdinand Baluku, 13, Yokonia Isakara, 76, and Olive Kabugo, 13, all residents of Muzizi cell.     

The injured include Biira Christine, Kakimwa Nipola, Nzabara Rogers, Bambi Joy, Zakaria Isaac, Birungi Biira and two other unidentified children.     

On Wednesday, two of the attackers Obedi Baguma 33 and David Munyirambe 36, both residents of Musizi cell in Kyaterekera town council were killed in Muzizi Cell.  

On Thursday, the bodies of the victims and the attackers were handed over to the relatives for burial. 

Lillian Ruteraho, the Kagadi Resident District Commissioner-RDC who represented the government at the burial condemned the action exhibited by the cult members. 

She vowed to beef up security in the area, tasking the community to be calm and vigilant and report any suspicious persons in the area to security agencies for immediate action.

Kule Abeli Isagara, a relative of the victims, condemned the attack, saying it had brought shame to their clan.  

Yosam Musiisi, the LCIII Chairperson for Kyaterekera town council says people are still living in fear following the incident tasking security agencies to continue carrying out patrols in the area.
