Running water has swept away ten-year-old boy in Iganga municipality.
Farika Muwaya, a resident of Nabidonga village in Iganga Central Division met his death on Saturday morning following a heavy down pour.
It is alleged that Muwaya was playing with two other children in a drainage channel that connects to a wet land when he was washed away.
The deceased’s father, Ahmed Basenga, says the two other boys tried to save their colleague in vain.
“They notified me after failing to rescue the deceased but it was too late for us to help him as his body had already flown to Nabidonga wetland,” he said.
The
Iganga District Police Commander, David Ndaula says their preliminary
investigations after interacting with eye witnesses indicates that the deceased
mistook the water filled drainage channel for a small pothole.
