Suspected cholera outbreak in Moroto district in Karamoja sub region, in the north eastern Uganda has so far claimed two lives while 15 are currently receiving treatment at Loputuk health center III in Nadunget sub county.
Early this week, the disease was brought to the attention of the district health officials after three people in Loputuk presented signs.
Dr. Charles Omundu, the District Health Officer confirmed the death of two people but said it’s hard to know whether its cholera although they presented symptoms similar to the disease.
He said the actual disease will be known after the results are brought out from the samples that they have taken for laboratory test in Entebbe.
“We have lost two people while 15 are being admitted at the isolated center in Loputuk health centre III where they are getting treatment right now,” he said.
