Seven frontline health workers have tested positive for COVID-19 — extending Uganda’s tally to 417.
The Ministry of Health in a statement released on Sunday evening, says 3 nurses, 2 doctors and 2 senior level staff all tested positive.
“A team of experts specialized in prevention and Control (IPC), case management and psychosocial are currently in the various places where health was workers tested positive to evaluate the response and investigate what could have led to the unfortunate infection of health workers,” the statement says.
The Ministry of Health routinely tests health workers based on the high chances to exposure to COVID-19.
Currently there 287 admitted cases in 15 Referral Hospitals in the country.
Ministry says all cases are in stable condition.
“All are admitted to Entebbe Grade B and Mulago National Specialised Hospitals,” the statement adds.
Uganda on Saturday registered the highest number recorded in single day ever since the first case.
The Johns Hopkins University tracking site says Uganda currently has 417 confirmed cases with 0 deaths.
Health officials say to date, 72 people have recovered from the infection.
