Presidential aspirant and former Security minister Gen Henry Tumukunde has been arrested.
Gen Tumukunde was arrested from Buikwe Municipality where he was set to meet his campaign teams and is being held at Njeru Police station.
The Presidential hopeful that recently launched a political pressure group was allegedly picked from Royale Paradise Hotel on Kayunga Road, Njeru Division.
Police were yesterday to confirm the arrest.
On Thursday last week, 17 supporters of Gen Tumukunde were arrested in Nansana, Kampala suburb and according to Mr Jackson Ssekade, a member of Tumukunde’s mobilisation team said the arrested members are yet to be charged.
“We are yet to establish the actual charge but our lawyers are working on it but we have not got actual information on what they were charged for,” Mr Ssekade told the Daily Monitor.
“They are staying strong and on the cause and they are not going to be intimidated by such arrests and they actually pledged to continue supporting Gen Tumukunde on this cause of bringing peaceful change in Uganda” he added.
