Kagadi-The Buyaga East Member of Parliament, Eric Musana has lost the National Resistance Movement party primaries for the election of a flag bearer.
Musana lost to former deputy third prime minister of Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom, Twesige Stephen Rulekere.
Twesige Stephen is a son to former Buyaga East Member of Parliament, Ignatius Besisira Akiiki who also lost to Musana Eric in 2016.
Twesige was on Tuesday declared the NRM flag bearer by Dr.Tanga Odoi, the chairperson of NRM electoral commission at the NRM party headquarters.
He polled 28,686(42%) votes against Musana’s 27,162 (40%) votes, while Amara Peter managed to get 10,966 votes.
Birungi Robert got 37votes, Kisembo Emmanuel Diini got 10, Tukamushaba Kerian got 367, Alinaitwe Bright secured 385 votes, and Kakooza Patrick attained 1,079 votes.
Speaking after being declared the winner, Stephen Twesige Rulekere thanked the people of Buyaga East for standing with him during the struggle.
He asked the NRM members in Kagadi district to work together to defend the NRM flag during the general elections.
By press time, MP Musana Eric Acaali was still engaged and could respond to our calls.
Amara Peter Salongo has told our reporter that he is also not satisfied with the outcome of the NRM primaries for Buyaga East constituency.
He told our reporter that he is still consulting his coordinators about the next plan.
Meanwhile celebrations across the constituency have started in preparation of welcoming Stephen Twesige from Kampala.
The results were delayed after Eric Musana, the Buyaga East Incumbent MP petitioned the NRM electoral commission over alleged irregularities.
Since 4th September 2020, no winner was announced after a re-voting was announced for Pacwa trading centre in Pacwa sub-county, where Musana and Twesige failed to agree over alleged inflating of results on the declaration forms.
He had said that according to his tally of the declaration forms, he garnered 28,663 against his Twesige, who got 25,014, which the electoral commission rejected on Tuesday.
