Kagadi-The Kagadi district woman Member of Parliament Janepher Kyomuhendo Mbabazi has thanked the Government for the quick response towards flood victims in Ndaiga Sub County.
The Office of Prime Minister-OPM delivered relief items to Kagadi district for distribution to flood-affected residents.
More than 4,000 people in Ndaiga Sub County were displaced from their homes because of flooding resulting from increased water levels in Lake Albert.
Some of the displaced persons are currently residing in churches, and schools while others shifted to areas that were least affected by the tragedy.
However, many of them were starving until the Office of the Prime Minister decided to come to their rescue.
OPM has delivered 17500kilograms of maize flour, 7500Kgs of beans, 100Kgs of Sugar and 500 pieces of blankets for distribution to the affected persons
Sugar is meant only for vulnerable people.
Hon.Janepher Kyomuhendo Mbabazi has now applauded the government of Uganda especially the prime minister’s office for their quick response though she hastened to add that the demand is overwhelming as more areas are affected by the rising water levels.
She urged the district leadership to deliver the items to the intended people.
