Mabaale Muslim County in Kagadi District has got a new county Sheikh, ending a long period in which the position was under caretaking. The installation ceremony took place on Monday at the Mabaale Mosque headquarters in Mabaale Town Council, Kagadi District.
Sheikh Twekwase Musafir, the newly consecrated leader of Mabaale County, assumed his duties immediately after the ceremony.
He will serve 27 mosques across Mabaale Muslim County in Kibaale Muslim District, covering Kagadi, Kibaale, and Kakumiro districts.
The event was presided over by Abdu Musa, Commissioner of the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council (UMSC) Electoral Commission for the Bunyoro and Tooro region. He said the consecration process was conducted smoothly and successfully.
Commissioner Abdu explained that Sheikh Musafir took two key oaths — the Oath of Allegiance and the Oath of Secrecy — which will guide him in fulfilling his responsibilities. He encouraged the new Sheikh to work closely with the government, embrace development programs, and collaborate with fellow Muslims for effective leadership.
Kibaale Muslim District Khadi, Sheikh Isingoma Muhamad, confirmed the consecration, describing it as a significant step toward strengthening the Muslim faith across Mabaale County.
He noted that Sheikh Musafir had successfully passed several assessments conducted by Muslim officials at both district and national levels.
Sheikh Isingoma further advised the new county Sheikh to work harmoniously with his colleagues, respect his superiors, and uphold the Muslim constitution.
Meanwhile, Sheikh Twekwase Musafir expressed gratitude to Allah for guiding him to this milestone. He pledged to cooperate with fellow Muslims and called for unity as he begins his service to the community.
Several Muslims in Mabaale County told our reporter that they were delighted with the installation of a substantive leader.
They said the previous leadership vacuum had created challenges and expressed confidence that Sheikh Musafir’s appointment will strengthen the faith in the area.
Sheikh Twekwase Musafir succeeds Sheikh Twalib Tibenda, who was recently removed from office over allegations of misconduct.
