Grief as Kaisekenkere Primary School Teachers Killed in Road Crash Are Honored in Prayer

A sombre mood has engulfed Kaisekenkere Primary School and the surrounding community as residents and families gathered to pray for two teachers who lost their lives in a tragic road accident.

Shock spread across Kibaale District on Monday evening after a speeding Isuzu lorry knocked dead two teachers attached to Kaisekenkere Primary School in Matale Sub County.

 The deceased were identified as John Baptist Barongo, 26, a resident of Kakayo Village in Kasambya Sub County, Kakumiro District, and John Sekate, 29, from Rwamagando Village in Kabasekende Sub County, Kibaale District.

The fatal accident occurred at around 8:50pm along the Kibaale–Kakumiro Highway at Mbaya, a few metres from Hakabanda Trading Centre.

An Isuzu lorry registration number UA 956 DA, which was transporting timber, reportedly knocked the teachers who were riding on a Bajaj motorcycle registration number UFM 033 U.

In honor of the fallen educators, school administrators organized a requiem Mass at the school premises.

The prayers were led by the chaplain of Buseesa Catholic Parish, Rev. Fr. John Bosco Mugisa, together with the parish priest, Rev. Fr. Godfrey Kisembo, assisted by Rev. Fr. Charles Asaba, the head teacher of St. Kirigwaijo Secondary School. Teachers, students, and community members attended the service to pay their last respects.

According to a postmortem report by Dr. Andrew Kasangaki of Kibaale Health Centre IV, the teachers died from acute respiratory failure resulting from injuries sustained in the crash.

Speaking on behalf of the school director, Dr. Emely Kugonza, Scolastica Kugonza expressed deep condolences to the bereaved families, describing the deceased as committed and dedicated educators whose contribution to the school and community will be greatly missed.

Following the requiem Mass, the bodies of the deceased were transported to their respective homes for burial scheduled for tomorrow.

 Meanwhile, the wreckage of the Bajaj motorcycle and the Isuzu lorry have been parked at Karuguuza Police Station and Kibaale Central Police Station as investigations into the accident continue.
