Four people have been arrested in connection to the murder of a German national.
The deceased identified Rudel Fredrick Werner, was found dead in his bedroom.
Werner was a resident of Entebbe municipality whose murder case was brought to the attention of Entebbe Police Division on Friday.
Patrick Onyango, the Kampala Metropolitan police spokesperson, identified the suspects as Daniela Jacqueline, Dakanimya Eria, Jackie Atwiine Jalia and Chega Barbra.
Onyango said they are detained at Entebbe Police Station on murder charges. Lt Jimmy Bwambale who reported the case said Werner did not respond to his part-time maid.
“The case was reported at Mpala Police Station, Entebbe municipality at 0600 hours on,03/04/2020 by Lieutenant Jimmy Bwambale, a pilot attached to Uganda People’s Defence Air Force,” Onyango said.
Bwambale who was Werner’s neighbour said the deceased had stayed in the country for five years and was allegedly married to Atwiine Jalia for about three years but were living separately.
“It is alleged that the deceased’s part-time maid Chega Babrah Precious came and knocked the gate but there was no response. This raised suspicion of the reporter (Lt Bwambale) who happens to be the neighbour,” Onyango said.
Kampala South Regional CID commander, SP Vincent Okurut and his team of detectives suspect that the deceased was strangled in his enclosed compound and the body later dragged to his bedroom.
SP Okurut, Scene of Crime Officers (SOCOs) and other detectives thoroughly examined the scene of crime.
“The body was later taken to Mulago City Mortuary pending post-mortem. The suspects who have been arrested are key in the investigations of this murder,” Onyango said.
A similar case was registered in 2018 when a Belgian national Eric Yvomr, 54, was allegedly murdered and later tied on a rope to depict he had committed suicide by hanging.
