Stay away from unpatriotic social media users, Kagadi RDC tells youth

Kagadi Resident District Commissioner Lillian Ruteraho has urged the youth, especially those in schools, to love their country unconditionally and avoid “wrong elements that keep talking ill” about Uganda.

Ms Ruteraho especially cited social media users.

While officiating at the pass out of over 268 students in Kagadi who underwent civic education, Ruteraho urged the youngsters to take obligations of protecting the nation against social media users who work to portray a bad image for the country.

“As a matter of fact, Uganda is your country so you need to love it, not just loving it but even where you see your colleagues trying to do bad like putting bad things on social media about Uganda, stop them,” Ruteraho said.

She also asked the young people to cherish education, saying it is only road to success since even the land people used to inherit is now scarce.

“Do you see how population is increasing?” she posed.

“Then imagine what the situation will be, so the only alternative is to study and get jobs.”

At the same function, the patron Patriotism Club at Mabaale SS, Jimmy Achol, said the training given to children ranging from physical exercises to academic work will shape their mindset and lead them to success.

The training focused o imparting life skills, basic Kiswahili understanding, patriotism core values, nation building, para-military drills, climate change, environmental conservation, and discipline .

Achol thanked President Museveni for championing the program in schools.

“Most of the young people are losing track, so this kind of training is shaping them, hope they will be able to pass on the skills to others,” Achol said

Godfrey Musinguzi, the headteacher of Mabaale SSS said the patriotism training acquired by students will help them behave well and improve their academic performance.

The patriots have commended President Museveni for initiating the patriotism clubs in the country, adding that the training will contribute to their wellbeing and shape them into important persons in their communities
