Bunyoro-Kitara Kingdom’s Prime Minister Owek Andrew Byakutaga Ateenyi met clan leaders at Bunyoro-Kitara Kingdom Plaza.
The Prime Minister appreciated the clan heads for supporting &implementing Kingdom programs.
He urged them to register all clans for better administration, budgeting and planning.
The Premier tasked the Clan leaders to promote Cultural events such as Customary marriage, Initiation ceremonies, introduction of new family members (children) reunion functions, peace building events, Revitalizing positive ritual practices and values associated with cultural events among others.
The Premier informed the leaders that Omukama’s chiefs are mandated to represent BKK and support clan leaders.
He asked the clan leaders to learn, document and mentor young people about BKK history and culture to ensure sustainability of cultural values.
The Prime Minister urged Chiefs and clan leaders to take charge of all cultural events in their homes and clans to ensure they are not diluted or destroyed by foreign cultures.
The Chief Prince of Bunyoro-Kitara Kingdom Owek Rucunya Mugenyi Akiiki underscored the importance of having Clan structures & called on every clan to embrace the current call on registration.
The clan leaders tasked themselves to have a register of all their clan members.
The clan leaders welcomed the engagement. They said such capacity building engagements will strengthen clans
