Kibaale-The State Minister for Health in Charge General Duties, Robbinah Nabanja on Sunday 21 03 2021 launched the distribution of long-lasting treated mosquito bed nets across Bunyoro region with a call for proper usage in a bid to curb cases of malaria.
The launch exercise was held at Bwamiramira sub county headquarters in Kibaale district.
In Nabanja’s message delivered on her behalf by the Assistant Commissioner in charge of National Malaria Control Division Dr Jimmy Opigo, emphasized that the general public should put the nets to use on a daily basis if malaria is to be kicked out of communities.
The government will be distributing mosquito nets after every 3 years in a bid to minimize malaria cases to Zero.
Dr Godfrey Timbihurira, the Kibaale District Health Officer reveals that Malaria prevalence in the district stands at 18% with 300 malaria cases registered per month and average of 5 deaths per month.
Caroline Kashaiza Muyambi, the deputy RDC Kibaale encourages pregnant women and children below 5 years to sleep under the mosquito nets but hastens to warn that those who will be found selling the nets will face the wrath of the law.
