Kagadi
District councils in Kagadi, Kakumiro, and Kibaale have tabled draft budgets for the 2026/2027 financial year, outlining key development priorities and funding plans ahead of approval in May.
In Kagadi, the district presented a UGX 50.07 billion draft budget focusing on infrastructure, education, agriculture, and healthcare.
The proposals were tabled by Secretary for Finance, Planning, Administration and Investment, Magezi Jamadah Francis, during a council sitting on March 24, 2026, chaired by Speaker Rt. Hon. Magezi Muwonge.
Council will scrutinize the budget alongside key policy documents, including revenue enhancement, recruitment, and disaster preparedness plans, before approval on May 7.
Deputy Chief Administrative Officer Vincent Kyaligonza urged leaders to mobilize communities to support the Parish Development Model (PDM), especially as loan recovery begins.
District Chairperson Ndibwami B. Yosia noted steady progress in ongoing projects and plans to commission completed ones.
In Kakumiro, councilors tabled a UGX 40.5 billion draft budget, prioritizing sectors such as security, transport infrastructure, electricity, and irrigation.
The motion was presented by Secretary for Finance and Planning Grace Tushemerirwe, who outlined funding sources including local revenue, central government transfers, donor funding, and other government support.
Council also approved a supplementary budget of UGX 150 million for emergency road works in Bugangaizi West.
District Chairperson Joseph Sentayi Senkusu pledged to work with all leaders regardless of political affiliation to drive development.
Meanwhile, Kibaale District tabled a UGX 31.5 billion draft budget during a council session chaired by Speaker Peter Lugumba.
Presented by Secretary for Finance Gertrude Katusiime, the budget aligns with the national theme of economic monetization through agriculture, industrialization, and service expansion.
Katusiime highlighted priorities including improving agricultural productivity, infrastructure, education, and healthcare.
The council also tabled a performance improvement plan aimed at strengthening service delivery.
All three districts are expected to review and approve their respective budgets in upcoming council sittings scheduled for May 2026.
