State House has rebutted reports that President Yoweri Museveni has agreed to opening the country on Monday May 11 for business.
The President was reportedly expected to address the country on Sunday 8 p.m on the matter and that he had after consulting from the medical team agreed to lift the lockdown starting Monday.
However, his Senior Press Secretary Mr. Don Wanyama has dismissed the reports as fake.
Uganda ordered a lockdown since March 20, to prevent spread of the novel coronavirus.
During the lockdown, the country had restricted movement of people except for essential services such as healthcare, food shopping, water and electricity services, media and banking.
But President last week partially lifted the national lockdown, allowing a few businesses to operate but extended the stay at home among others for more two weeks.
Meanwhile, the President has today May 9 hosted the 2nd National Prayers on COVID-19 at State House Entebbe.
He urged Ugandans through their respective religious means to pray with the country for the all God’s intervention to end this COVID-19 pandemic here, and the rest of the world.
