The Ministry of Health says the confirmed case from Kampala is a nurse working with Mulago National
Specialised Hospital.
This, the Ministry says, brings the total number of frontline health workers who have tested positive for COVID-19 to eight in Uganda.
Last week, seven frontline health workers tested positive for COVID-19
The list now includes 4 nurses, 2 doctors and 2 senior level staff all tested positive.
The Ministry of Health routinely tests health workers based on the high chances to exposure to COVID-19.
Earlier in the day, Dr Jane Ruth Aceng announced that 15 more people had tested positive for Covid-19 as Uganda’s tally of confirmed cases rose to 522.
Four of the new cases are truck drivers who arrived from Tanzania via Mutukula while two cases are from Busia.
The Ministry of Health said nine cases are alerts and contacts to previously confirmed cases.
Of these, three are from Amuru, one is from Buikwe District and two are from Kyotera District, one from Nakaseke, one from Lira and one from Kampala (a medical nurse).
