Kagadi General Hospital has received a Digital Mobile X-Ray equipment to help in managing Tuberculosis and other illnesses.
The equipment worth 400 million shillings was procured by the Ministry of Health.
It uses artificial intelligence to identify individuals likely to have TB within a short time
The machine was delivered to Kagadi general hospital on Friday afternoon by Didas Tugumisirize in-charge of Radiology Services, Ministry of Health National TB Program.
Speaking at the handover function held at the boardroom of Kagadi general Hospital in Kagadi town, Tugumisirize says Kagadi received the machine because it has been registering the highest TB prevalence in the country.
He has rallied everyone to help fight TB out of the country by taking the required precautionary measures.
Moses Eyalu ,a senior Radiographer and National Trainer of the program from Ministry of Health says Unlike other conventional X-ray machines that use ordinary films, the digital X-ray produces images within 30 seconds and has capacity to screen 200 patients a day.
He says the machine can as well be used to do x-rays of other body parts like the Skull, abdomen and fractures.
Paul Bahizi, the Kagadi district Assistant Health Officer revealed that they receive between 250 to 300 TB patients, a month.
He notes that most of the cases have been managed at Hoima Regional Referral Hospital due to lack of X-ray machine in the district.
Bahizi is optimistic that the equipment will help to treat and manage other silent killers like TB.
