African Rural University Celebrates 10th Graduation Ceremony

African Rural University (ARU) on Friday 22 November 2024 celebrated its 10th graduation ceremony, marking a significant milestone in the university’s history.

Graduates included Night Teopista, Nambuya Diana, Ampiire Mariam, Atuhaire Jane, Nakate clare, Kobusinge Mawanga, Osiime Rinah and Wakayo Royse.

During the ceremony at the University’s campus in Kagadi District, 8 students received their Bachelor’s degree of rural transformation and Bachelor’s degree of science in sustainable agriculture.

The University’s Chancellor Justice Ezekiel Muhanguzi urged graduates to be mindful of the dangers they may face and to prioritize their safety.

He also emphasized ARU’s motto, “Awakening the Sleeping Genius in Each of Us,” highlighting the university’s commitment to empowering students to reach their full potential.

Vice Chancellor Dr. Mwalimu Musheshe reiterated ARU’s mission to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to drive sustainable development and improve the quality of life in rural areas.

 He emphasized the importance of community engagement and participation in development processes and implored graduates to expose their credibility in communities.

The chief guest, Lawyer Ssemambo Rashid from Victoria University, emphasized the need to improve the quality of the mass population to drive development, citing China as an example.

 He encouraged the graduates to become agents of change in their communities, follow their assimilations to contribute to Uganda’s development

Meanwhile best graduate Night Thiopista attributed success to the humility and commitment exhibited during the course at the University.

She promised to maintain the dignity of the institution as to implement the values of change agents role in the community.
