A 25-year-old mother, who claims to have been raped, has accused health workers Nyamarwa Health Centre 3, Nyamarwa Sub County in Kibaale district for refusing to attend after failing to raise sh30, 000.
The woman whose identity has been concealed a resident of Kasaka Village in Nyamarwa Sub County claims that she was raped by a man she identifies as Innocent of the same area on Wednesday who also injured her.
She says that yesterday she filed a case at Nyamarwa police post who arrested Innocent and thereafter recommended for a medical examination and attention.
She says she was left stranded after a health worker whom she did not identify demanded for sh30, 000 before she attend to her.
This took the intervention of the victim’s husband who called the RDC Kibaale Deborah Mbabazi who later contacted lawyers of World Voices Uganda a non-governmental human rights organization for intervention.
Lawyers of World Voices Uganda led by Franklin Byekitinisa, took the victim to Kibaale health center IV for medical attention.
Sharon Amono, one of the lawyers from the Kagadi based World Voices Uganda vows to do what it takes for the woman to access justice.
When contacted to clarify about the woman’s allegations, Harriet Nakimpi the in charge Nyamarwa health centre 3 says she doesn’t know anything about the matter and doesn’t remember seeing the woman at the facility.
