KAMPALA – President Museveni has said that a diet free of calories has enabled him cut weight.
According to the President, vegetables are part of his meals.
“When we had the health walk, the doctors explained that weight can cause you high blood pressure leading to heart problems. I was overweight, I was 106kg. I was told weight can also cause cancer. I decided to get rid of it, I am now 77kg,” Mr Museveni said in an interview with NBS TV on Monday, May 11, 2020.
“I eat two pieces of cassava and greens for breakfast, with some groundnuts sauce or peas and some soup. Lunchtime, I drink water and maybe some coffee with milk without sugar. At 7:00 pm, I have two potatoes plus a lot of vegetables and some little sauce. I have controlled my weight by dieting than by exercising,” he added.
According to the President, the biggest problem is the intake of calories and output.
“When you take in so many calories and you don’t use them, that is how the weight comes. I am always fit even with weight because of the history of fighting and cattle keeping.”
About three weeks ago, the President stunned the whole world when he made 30 press-ups in his office to demonstrate that indoor exercises are possible during the lockdown over coronavirus.
