The Ministry of Health yesterday announced a mass immunization campaign in response to a measles outbreak that has severely impacted children in several districts.
The most affected districts include Amuru in northern Uganda, and Kamuli, Mbale, Butebo in the eastern part of the country and Kagadi in western among others.
Health Minister Jane Ruth Aceng emphasized the urgency of the situation, highlighting the critical need to protect children under five years old.
Kagadi district health educator Justine Tumwebaze Aisha stated that the ministry is collaborating with development partners to ensure widespread immunization coverage.
The immunization drive is scheduled to take place from the 21st to the 23rd of this month.
Tumwebaze urged parents to bring their children for immunization and to report any suspected measles cases to the nearest health center promptly.
