Residents of Kakindo Sub County in Kakumiro district have requested authorities to kill all stray dogs, saying they have become a threat to human life.
The dogs have reportedly killed up to 8 goats, 7 pigs, 8 Ducks and unspecified number of chicken in the Kyarupeka and Kyarukara villages.
They argue that the sub county has increasingly become unsafe as stray dogs continue to wreak havoc all over the place.
Dogs gathered in packs are now a common sight.
One of the affected residents Ezekiel Tweyimana said the dogs, hide in the bushes and later attack other animals and steal food from within homes.
He says the stray dogs have also started attacking people.
The LC1 chairperson for Kyarukara village, Jackson Musabwenda says the stray dogs are resistant to poison, so he called for the intervention of the veterinary officer.
Butto Ankundu chairperson NRN for Kakindo Sub County has asked the sub county leadership to come with the lasting solution chase dogs from the sub county.
He says stray dogs have greatly affected their income generating projects.
Efforts to get a comment from veterinary officer for Kakindo Sub County were futile by press time as he contact could not be reached.
