Drama as children fight for Assets at their father’s Burial ceremony in Kibaale

Kibaale –The Burial of an 83-year-old man, Serwada Joseph Kairu alias Kaboy, on Wednesday turned chaotic, following a clash between the deceased’s children over  what they termed as unequal sharing of property  by their late father as he directed in  the Will.

Serwada Joseph Kairu died on Tuesday after a long illness but a fracas ensued at his burial in Kamondo village in Nyamarwa Sub County, Kibaale district following a disagreement over why the deceased gave most of the assets to the children of the first wife Nanyonga Teddy (alive)

The deceased survived by 8 children and a wife.

However, the second wife, Maria Nakibuka, the mother of 5 children died.

 Trouble started when one of the mourners Joseph Kusaba started reading the deceased’s Will indicating that the heir is Chrysostom Goroba, the last born from the second wife who was joined by his brothers insisting that most of the assets had been given to the children of Nanyonga.

 Mutebi Joseph a brother to Chrysostom confronted Joseph Kusaba while reading the will there after carried the body to the grave by force before the authorization of Rev Fr Emmanuel Alinaitwe the parish priest of Mituju catholic parish who was leading the sendoff mass.

 This triggered chaos before mourners dispersed together with the clergy leaving the burial function to the confused children.

 Residents who were left mum over the ugly scenes castigated the deceased’s children for misbehaving.
