A teenage girl committed suicide on Christmas day in Kibaale
district after escaping from home to attend a Christmas disco.
The Kibaale District Police Commander, David Otabong, identifies the deceased
as Juliet Ayesiga, a daughter to Steven Baralekaki and Margret Birungi, both
residents of Rwega village in Bubango Sub County.
According to Otabong, the teen’s lifeless body was found hanging on a tree. He
explains that Ayesiga escaped from home to attend a disco on Christmas day in
Kikaada trading Centre.
Otabong says they suspect that the teen committed suicide after fearing to
return home.
The DPC appeals to parents to create a mutual relationship with their children
to avoid similar incidents.
The deceased’s paternal uncle, William Birungi told our reporter that Ayesiga
has been battling some strange illness on her leg for some time, which could
have prompted her to end her life.
He explained that the deceased repeatedly complained about the illness and they
tried to counsel her to remain strong until when they heard that she had
committed suicide.
