President Yoweri Museveni has
warned NRM party supporters on killing the cohesion in the party to stop.
Museveni said cohesion in the NRM party is very vital and that without it the party cannot stand the test of time.
The president’s statement followed a request by the LC5 chairperson Kakumiro district, Joseph Sentayi Senkusu that infighting within NRM party should be dealt with before the party primaries
Addressing residents at Birembo playgrounds in Birembo Sub County Kakumiro district on Friday, Museveni said those involved in intrigue and cliques will bring bad lack to themselves if they don’t repent.
Museveni said they were able to defeat enemies during the war because they were honest.
The rally which climaxed the 195km trek from Garamba in Wakiso district to Birembo in Kakumiro district was attended by the freedom fighters, ministers, MP, veterans and local government leaders.
The President says his trek is a symbolic walk that started at Galamba in Wakiso district to Borembo in Kakumiro, is meant to celebrate heroic sacrifices by freedom fighters.
NRM leaders have described the trek as an opportunity to refocus the party’s ideology and unite party members.
